Why spending $30k a year on coaches has been my ultimate midlife glow up

I am writing this from my business class seat on my way home from Paris where I spent a week walking gorgeous canals, sipping gourmet coffee and being inspired by icons in the wellness, empowerment and leadership space.  I am feeling energized, restored, confident, and powerful AF

So it is totally on brand for me, and no surprise that I hired three of the coaches there to work with me for the next six months as I step further my legacy, feel more confident in myself and my work, and leap into the midlife I know what I was destined to embody.

I need you to know that it would have been easy for me to panic about that level of investment, let my old deprivation mindset remind me that I have taken almost a year off on maternity leave, making a fraction of my usual salary and have already accrued some pretty substantial debt.  But the version of me that is leaving Paris today knows better.

This highest version of myself that is still abuzz from the potent energy of being surrounded by legends understands that confidence, success and empowerment are not built in isolation, but are cultivated through collective wisdom, sacred support, and relentless commitment to growth.  The version of me that gets to travel the world and share the room with leaders and visionaries understands the cumulative power of influence and that collaboration is what happens at the top.

Could I find success without them?  Absolutely. I have always been ambitious, driven and accomplished.

But I would be operating at a fraction of my potential. Mentorship has transcended my power well beyond my career.  In fact I have found success in navigating all aspects of my life.

I have abolished the need to numb myself and my creativity by drinking alcohol and, instead, now favor world travel over a late night at a dingey bar.  My self-care, taking time out for nature, going to therapy, energetic healing of my mind and body, is soul-lead and nourishing and goes way deeper than anything offered at a spa. I have true work-life balance. I freaking love my job.  I have an incredible partner who makes space for my dreams and helps me embrace them.  I get to work from home and don’t have to outsource spending time with my 9 month old, relishing in every giggle, coo and milestone.

I understand that mindset has the power to dictate everything from how you feel in your business, to your body, in your bedroom and in your bank account; and that surrounding yourself with the right support collapses time, shortens learning curves and creates more time, money and energy for the things that glow you up.

So here's what I want you to know:

There is no timeline to discover what you want.  You are never too old to pivot your life.  There is no expiration date for success.

I could be spending my 40s the same way I did my 20s and half of my 30s- working for someone else, thinking adventure looked like an occasional resort vacation where I answered emails, limiting my potential and capping my influence.

But I made a choice- to reject the idea that just because I spent a lot of time building the life I had but didn’t truly want, means that I no longer had access to expansion, change and recalibration.

With love and monumental gratitude.
