What Actually Opened the Door Wasn’t on My Résumé

Something people don’t always know about me is just how incredibly wild my career has been.

I’ve worked as a crisis counselor in a New York City ER.

I’ve worked inside institutions in Sri Lanka with the NIH.

I’ve taught sex ed in Philly high schools.

I was a private investigator with the government.

I got into the FBI.

But the one that always piques the most interest?

My run as a mental health therapist in solitary confinement at the notorious Rikers Island.

Now—I’ll save what happened inside those walls for another day.

That’s not the point.

The point is: I wanted that job.

And I refused to accept no.

At the time, I was back in school chasing my second master’s degree. I needed an internship. I was in my thirties, didn’t love the idea of working for free, so I thought:

fuck it, if you're going, go for broke.

I asked about Rikers. They told me the program had been discontinued. Closed. No students allowed.

And if I had swallowed that answer, this would’ve been the end of the story.

But I didn’t stop there.

I tracked down the head of the psych program and sent my pitch. I assumed what would qualify me were my years of experience in mental health and my advanced degrees. But what caught her attention most was my two decades of moonlighting as a New York City bartender.

Not only did I get the job, but it reminded me that what impresses people about you isn’t always the obvious thing on your résumé—it’s often the unexpected part of your story.

But if there's one thing I want you to hear from this story: it’s not about waiting for permission. It’s about being clear on what you want, and finding the angle nobody else is bold enough to see.  Dreams aren’t about waiting for perfect timing—they’re about finding the opening and stepping into it.

This is what I’m brilliant at: helping women reevaluate their lives, name what they want, and carve the path to get there.

And it's why I created the Yes, I Am Too Much™ Mastermind.

The presale price has ended, but because I don’t want you stuck with FOMO, I’m extending a special offer:

💎 $444 off before the price rises $500 next month.

💎 That’s 10% off plus another $500 off before October—over $900 in savings.

If I had let limiting beliefs stop me—or lacked the clarity to name what I wanted—this email would have an entirely different subject line.

And I’d be living an entirely different life.

Don’t let the path not taken be your story.

Say yes now. Your future self is begging.
