Allison Guilbault
this is the yes, I am too much™ revolution
Therapy is about to look a whole lot different.

I want to start by saying I am not your typical therapist.
If you are craving someone who will blank stare at you while wearing pearls and a cardigan and ask you how that makes you feel, I am probably not the gal for you.
While I am backed by four degrees in psychology, brain science and human behavior, I have a far from traditional career. I started as a sexual assault crisis counselor in a New York City emergency room, taught sex education at Planned Parenthood and was a therapist inside of solitary confinement at Rikers Island.
I have also held clinical research roles at New York University, John Jay College, Mt. Sinai and wrote my Master's thesis with the FBI.
My career has been impressive and I am proud as hell of everything I have done, seen, learned and built.
But the thing that I love most is that I get to help women finally stop feeling like shit about themselves and step into self-exploration and discovery.
I will ask you questions you probably haven't been asked before and suggest ideas that might be new. I will talk about sex and ask you about your relationship to money. I will be curious about what you think and where you got your opinions from. I will look you in your eyes and lovingly tell you that you are doing it again. I may tell you about my own life, when appropriate, and I will almost certainly ask you about your cat.
And while my work might be unlike therapy you have done before, make no mistake. It will just as powerful, because you are about to see how fast you get to the right answers when you are asked the right questions.
MY THERAPY SPECIALTIES ARE:
Sex & Intimacy

I provide sex therapy for women who are done carrying shame, done faking it, and ready to find freedom in their bodies, in their pleasure, in their ability to enjoy sexual and intimate relationships.
Whether you are untangling religious conditioning, dropping out of purity culture, navigating desire inside a long term relationship, healing after trauma, or just craving a deeper connection with your sensual self, I am here for all of it.
In our sessions, there is nothing that is off the table. We get into the fantasies you have been swallowing, the porn you have been hiding, the orgasms you have been missing and reprogram your brain to drop the shame, guilt and fear in favor of passion, confidence and exploration.
We bring pleasure, desire, sovereignty, and power back online, and we build a relationship with your sensual and erotic side so that you, too, can enjoy adult relationships and intimate time, with or without a partner.
Trauma

The women I work with in trauma therapy are not always the women you would expect. What they are carrying does not always have one name, one moment, or one clean origin story.
Trauma does not live in your mind alone. It lives in your breath, your body, your relationships, your silence, your hypervigilance, and the way you constantly brace for impact.
Real trauma work is not about revisiting the past so you can live in it again. It is about going back to retrieve the parts of yourself that got lost in it, and bringing them home.
But it is about teaching your body, slowly and compassionately, that it is allowed to rest, feel, surrender and receive. Which is exactly what we will do, with no urgency to move faster than you are ready to.
Anxiety

I help women with the brand of anxiety that is so subtle and sneaky it might go entirely unchecked if you don't have the eye for it.
Because the type of women who come to me for anxiety treatment are not having panic attacks or having trouble getting through the day. They are sharp, successful, in control and emotionally intelligent. Which is exactly why it is so curious for them why they feel so unsettled all the time.
I treat the type of anxiety that lives in perfectionism, in the inability to say no when someone asks your help, in how often you stay up at night staring at the ceiling problem solving what you need to do.
I help women break up with that voice, with gratitude and finality and shift the narrative to one that feels supportive, kind and inspirational, rather than critical, bitchy and bossy.
And while I will not teach you breathing exercises or instruct you to name five things you can see, I will help you better understand why that voice has been so strong, and how to shut her up for good.
